A family business from the beginning

For Good Measure is Victoria's original bulk food store.  Started in 1983, what was originally the Cadboro Bay Bulk Food Store, became For Good Measure Premium Bulk Food in 1994.  

We specialize in bulk, natural and specialty  foods and our customers buy everything here from fresh produce grown on our family farm and eggs grown on the Saanich Peninsula to dried fruit, BC grown gains and flour, spices,  raw nuts and even fresh roasted nuts from our very own nut roastery.

Having grown up in the store, Max Young took over the store in 2013, when his father Mark retired to his farm in Cobble Hill.  Mark can still be found  at the store some mornings with his wife Karen, as they deliver their farm fresh produce sold exclusively at For Good Measure.

In 2002, we built a small kitchen in the back of the store and fired up a cottage nut roasting operation.  Due to popular demand, in 2014 we created Island Nut Roastery to sell our roasted nuts wholesale and in 2015, Island Nut Roastery moved into its own dedicated facility.  While our kitchen at For Good Measure no longer produces roasted nuts for wholesale, it is busy turning out in-house fresh baked bread, baked cereals/granolas, our Hungry Hemp Bars and certain glazed nuts.
